    Online Reviews Matter

Have you ever read an online review before making a purchasing decision? Did that review influence you choice? According to a new survey by local search experts Bright Local, the answer to both questions is probably yes. Their research found that 84% of people trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendation and 74% of consumers say that positive reviews make them trust a local business more. Bright Local also found that 58% of consumers say that the star rating of a business is most important. So if you’re anything like these survey respondents, reading online reviews is an important component of your decision making process.

    Not Just for Restaurants

Most Internet users are already accustomed to making dining decisions with the help of online reviews. Sites like Yelp make it easy for consumers to post and read unvarnished opinions. But consumers are increasingly looking to review sites for other kinds of service recommendations. In the same study, Bright Local found that 40% of consumers used reviews to find the right hotel. And 26% used online reviews to find trustworthy mechanics. This makes sense when you think about it. Nobody want to choose an auto mechanic at random, especially if you value your pocketbook, so a little inside information could be extremely valuable. Could the same be true about healthcare? As it turns out, yes.

    Healthcare Reviews

In the Bright Local survey, a full 31% of consumers have used online reviews when making healthcare decisions. And this number will almost surely grow. In fact, in a recent article for Modern Healthcare, Yelp co-founder and CEO Jeremy Stoppelman cited research showing that online reviews can actually be more helpful than the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey, or HCAHPS, the government’s main tool for capturing patient feedback. Reviews proved especially effective for quantifying hard-to-capture areas like billing or bedside manner. So today, online healthcare reviews are already easy to find, just as accurate as government reports, and widely trusted by the public.

    Reviews Are Important For Us

For all the reasons stated above, Generations Home Care welcomes online reviews. In-home care is an intimate service. We see our clients in any number of vulnerable states and as such, a review from a previous client can provide important reassurance for someone making this decision for the first time. So if you’re a current or former client, we’d love to hear from you! Search for us on Google, Yelp, or Facebook and leave your review. We look forward to reading your feedback!
