Medicare & Medicaid

Medicare does not cover non-medical home care unless a patient is eligible for Home Health Care (skilled nursing), continues to meet that requirement, and the non-medical home care is provided by a Home Health Agency.  Even with these requirements, there is a limit to how much care will be covered.  Visit https://www.cms.gov/ for more information.

Medicaid is a joint federal-state medical assistance program for low-income individuals.  It is administered by individual state governments.  Arizona’s Medicaid Agency, AHCCCS offers services for individuals who require nursing home or in-home care.

These services are offered through the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS). This program is intended for individuals who are age 65 or older, blind or have a disability (at any age) and need ongoing services at a nursing facility level of care.   Many ALTCS members live in their own homes and receive needed in-home services.
